Akrapovič Evolution Line for Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 X167

The Akrapovič Evolution Line titanium exhaust for the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 X167 is available from JHParts for pre-facelift and facelift models from 2020. It replaces the original AMG Performance exhaust, combining reduced weight with carbon fibre tailpipes and a distinctive exhaust note.

Titanium exhaust with carbon fibre tailpipes

High-grade lightweight titanium delivers a 34.2% weight saving compared with the AMG Performance exhaust system. The sandblasted exterior is complemented by handcrafted carbon fibre tailpipes with titanium inner sleeves. The valve housings, active X-connection and central tailpipe reinforcements are manufactured in Akrapovič's own foundry.

Three exhaust valves and an active X-connection

Two valves sit on either side of the muffler, with a third integrated into the active X-connection in the link pipe. A specially developed Control Kit operates the valves. The result is a deep, full-bodied idle, a pronounced burble as revs rise and a sporty, high-frequency character at higher engine speeds.

Power and torque

Akrapovič measured gains of 6.3 kW (8.6 hp) and 21.3 Nm at 2,800 rpm on a Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupé compared with the AMG Performance exhaust. These are reference measurements on the GLE, not separate test results for the GLS 63.

Fitment, Control Kit and ECE type approval

• For Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 X167 from 2020, pre-facelift and facelift.
• Designed as a direct replacement for cars with the original AMG Performance exhaust.
• No ECU remapping required.
• Mandatory Control Kit: select the pre-facelift or facelift version according to the vehicle's production specification.
• ECE type approved for the applicable approved vehicles equipped with an OPF petrol particulate filter.

The optional Akrapovič Sound Kit provides additional control over the exhaust sound. Installing this Sound Kit invalidates the exhaust system's ECE type approval certificate. The Sound Kit does not replace the mandatory Control Kit. JHParts can check the required Control Kit using the vehicle identification number.
